(NEW YORK) -- Monday marks the seventh straight day of gains for the Dow. The index, up 10 percent for the year, ended the day higher with a new record at 14,447.29 after advancing 50.22.
The Nasdaq Composite finished the session up 8.51 points at 3,252.87. The S&P 500 closed up 5.04 points at 1,556.22.
Despite another record day for the Dow Jones Industrial, there weren't many factors driving the average higher Monday. The Wall Street Journal reports that the number of shares traded via the U.S. stock indices was the second lowest for the year.
Crude oil gained 0.1 percent, closing at $92.06 a barrel. Gold advanced 0.1 percent to $1,577.80 per troy ounce.
